KARNATAKA MUSLIMS

Political Conspiracy Behind Imams’ Salary Move: Maulana Aamiri

Staff Reporter | KMNN
Bangalore June 10, 2011: “It is vote bank politics to vow Imams and influence them politically,” said Moulana Khadeer Ahmed Shah Adaul Aamiri. He was discussing the issue in a meeting convened by the Karnataka Muslim Muttahida Mahaz to study the government’s move to pay salaries to Imams and Mouzzans of Masjids from the Wakfs. Maulana Aamiri expressed his apprehensions that “the salaries may not be Shariah compliant because the Wakf board should consider the will of the Wakif (endower). If the purpose of Wakf property does not allow the money to be used for salary, then it is against the Shariah.” He urged to call a meeting of Ulema to study this scheme and protect the Imams from the ill intentions of different political parties who think it as the easiest way to influence the Muslim masses by controlling the Ulema. He adviced the government to address the real issues that the community is confronting with. He urged to increase the scholarship amount to minority students.
